Checking In
So this is a difficult project. Just getting our group together is hard. The different formats that a video can be saved under has screwed us up. It is a lot harder and more time consuming I think any of us had expected, but I am sure we will have it done in time before the due date. Another hurdle is that the department does not have enough equipment for podcasting. So I had to go out and buy a microphone that plugs into my computer. I am going to try to figure that out tonight, hopefully I can get it working.
Getting Started
Although I have already started my final project for the class, I thought I would write about my expectations for it. I hope that by doing this project I will be able to understand new media better. I am very slow when it comes to computers and I hope that I can use quicktime and story boards a lot easier.
I think that the project is going to turn out good. Sol, Nate, and I have decided to make it a spoof of the show COPS, so I think everyone will get a good laugh out of it. This is going to be harder that simply working on an in-class project because all of us have to get together and meet after-school hours which can be difficult due to work schedules. In this team I have decided to be in charge of making the blog and podcast. The project should be simply, just the only thing that will set us back is the editing.

VEGAS!!!
So I really don't have anything to blog about for this week. But I am going to Las Vegas this coming Saturday, April 26. I'm really excited because it is opening weekend of Rehab at the Hard Rock. It is an all day pool party starting Sunday the 27th and lasts every sunday until the last weekend in September.
People come from around the world for this party. I went last year, for opening weekend and for my 21st birthday, and it was amazing. Over 10,000 people attended and many were turned down. Tickets are about $25, but if you're staying at the hotel it is free with in's-and-out's. Basically so you can go up and party in your room and not have to spend $20 on every drink. Ages range from 21 to 40. When I was there, I honestly felt like a baby because most people are about late twenties.
This party is where the beautiful, the pierced, the tattooed, and the crazy all come together to soak up some sun, party like rockstars, and show off the flawless beach bodies. I recommend that anyone who loves to party, to check into Rehab at least once in their lives. I know I'll be going back to Rehab every year.

Hoopshype.com... Journalism? Or pure entertainment?
Hoopshype.com started off as a small website serving as news for basketball fans, has turned into a news source for not only fans, but for players, coaches, and even owners. It has become successful because it gives the reader what they want, up-to-minute information on trades, players and game stats. The three Spanish owners may not be big guru basketball fans, but they know their stuff. The websites success is based off the fact that news is constantly being updated. The owners work hand in hand with reliable journalists and other sports websites to give the information to the public. In some cases false information has be given, but those rumors only made the site more popular, because let’s admit it, everyone likes to read about a little scandal every now and then. I consider this website as journalism. It may not be the traditional journalism, but this is the era of the internet, when anyone with basic knowledge of typing/blogging can be a journalist. However, this website is not all about these three men sharing their ideas about the NBA, they have resources that compile the information for them, and all they have to do is put it on the site. I believe that hoopshype.com will have great success because it has already stabilized its foundation and dedication of readers. Not to say that there will not be any other site to come along, but hoopshype.com was the first success of its kind. It’s going to be around for a long time. I do not believe the founders of hoopshype.com are facing too many ethical issues. The only thing I can think of that would be considered unethical is posting false information, rumors. Readers of the site have nothing to really judge the credibility of the information that is posted on the site. They do know that there are reliable journalists that write for the site, but as for the information that is given, it is up to the reader to believe it or not. Like anything on the internet, anyone can write it, anyone can make it up, but it is up to the reader to absorb it, or disregard it.

Blogs to Follow
The fasion industry is a very appealing world to me. I love seeing the different trends, colors, and styles that come out each season. Some day I hope to be coordinating press work or fashion shows for either a magazine company or fashion designer. This semester we must follow a few blogs in the industry that we want to get into. My first is called
The Fashion Rag. It covers and discusses the different fashion trends, designers, shows, events and news in New York and Los Angeles. It also has links for fashion sites and blogs. The other blog in which I will be following is
PR Couture. It is a Fashion PR site that sends out daily emails of current blogs, job postings, interviews, and other fashion blogs.

Header

Last week I started working on a header, today I finished it. Don't know why I picked tequila, but I think it sounded good at the moment. I should open up a bar and have Tequila Tuesday specials. That would be brilliant. But for this exercise I got to learn more about photoshop an how to use layers and shading. I thought it was pretty easy.
